ABOUT
DIRECTING
RECENT
PROJECTS
My approach to directing is powered by my strong belief in collaboration and a constant push for exploration. I value the rehearsal room as a space for shared discovery, where diverse voices and experiences converge to learn, teach and collaborate in breathing life into narratives. I am driven to craft theatrical experiences that captivate audiences, immersing them in meticulously constructed worlds where every element, from performance to design, works in harmony to tell a cohesive story. With an eye always on the future of theatre, I embrace new technologies, innovative techniques and unique stories always seeking to push the boundaries of theatrical convention and engage audiences in unexpected ways and narratives.
In all of my directing
endeavours, I create rich
worlds that invite the
audience to capture their
imagination inside the world
of the characters, narrative
and thematic purpose of the
work. I do this through the
seamless integration of
performative and design
choices that uplift each other
with no one element taking
precedent over another.
The theatrical landscape, both
narratively and
technologically is constantly
evolving.
I strive to consistently be at
the forefront of these
movements, with my passion for
new work and innovative design
practices.
Diversity underpins my
directorial practice on many
levels. I value both my own
diverse professional
experience and that of my
colleagues, as well as the
diversity of lived experience
each individual brings to a
creative process. I privilege
that there is always
something to be learnt from
one another and endeavour for
continuous growth in my
artistic environments.

Set Me On Fire
“The chosen plays are all different in their content, style and tone, however, as orchestrated by directors Cale Dennis and Samara Louise, they are threaded together by their
contemplation of connectiveness in the world.”
“A sweet and sentimental story of first love, Set Me On Fire was a reminder of all the excitement and agony of that time in life, and a polished and well-constructed premiere production from Silent Sky.”
“This one hour piece, directed by Cale Dennis, is a gentle romance, but packs a powerful emotional punch thanks to the sincerity of its storytelling and the heartfelt charm and warmth of its performers ... There is absolutely no overacting here – director Cale Dennis has found just the right balance.”
